Caring hands turn public lands into community gardens. Community Gardens not only create productive spaces within the community, they build community and an appreciation for local food.

• Families cultivate plots that provide them with fresh produce and opportunities to teach their children about the wonders of life and nature.
• Neighbours work together, sharing the effort, the experience and the each other’s company.
• Students of all ages get active, hands-on learning about how the food they eat is grown.
• Volunteers are rewarded with the fruits of their labour and surplus produce is often donated to worthy causes.

Generally, each Community Garden has a champion, or organizing group, that coordinates the activity for the garden.

• Volunteers of all ages are always welcomed to share the experience and the bounty.
• Great way for high school students to earn the volunteer hours that they need to graduate.
• Activities starts in May and continue until everything has been harvested in the late fall.

Location: Centre Drive between the Beer Store and Dufferin County Office at the Edelbrock Centre
A section of this garden and a plot at Dufferin Garden Centre on C-Line are dedicated to growing food for Food Bank clients.

Shelburne: Shelburne Community Garden
The Shelburne Community Garden is a place community can come together to grow a variety of vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers. Shelburne residents can rent individual plots (garden beds, in-ground and raised beds) within the garden.
Location: The garden is located in Fiddle Park.
Construction of the Community Garden will begin in Spring 2020.
